Quick Rituals to Follow Before & After Tarot Reading

This is not a new topic for all tarot readers as almost all tarot readers at least once searched the internet to know about the best ritual to follow before and after the reading. Even I did many times, but none of them feel connected to me. Some says do meditations before reading, cleanse the space, and light a candle or use incense. But what if, readers like me who works on various online psychic reading platforms and who don’t have enough time to do perform such long process rituals as time doesn’t always permit it. So, I was looking for a ritual that is easy, quick and effective to perform because when you do a reading, it is very important for you to make sure that you are in a right frame of mind, where you are focused towards the reading process.

So, I am going to share you my quick and easy ritual that will help you to open and close a reading to ensure a smooth and focused reading process whether you do it online or face or face.

Creating A Physical Space

Just imagine how will be the reading if you grab a deck and shuffle your cards, lay them out on a kitchen table in the middle of making breakfast. What do you think, how effective and resonating will it be? I think, it will be confusing and sometimes blank, right? And later you may even end up losing your client’s trust and credibility. So creating space like a small room where you can conduct your tarot readings and keep tools required to perform your readings ready, is a MUST. This space should be fully devoted for your reading purpose only because this will help the positive energy flow freely into the room every time — all you have to do is rush to your room whenever booking from the client arrives.

However, it doesn’t mean that you cannot read Tarot in more open or in public space like airports, tourist place or cafes but still some level of privacy is required in order to tune into your client’s energy all throughout the reading. For some, it might mean that tarot can be read anywhere but I feel comfortable at home or a private place (if outside) where I and my client both feels safe.

Setting the scene & rituals before beginning the reading

Now once you have created your physical space, try using it every time because this will become your sacred place. You will notice that you are able to focus more and your intuition will flow smoothly rather than be distracted by other people wondering around you, phone calls or television noise. Also, make sure that your table is de-cluttered every time you finish your reading otherwise you will find that you are distracted by the clutters around you.

Some tarot readers like to decorate their space with candles, crystals, pictures and beautiful fabrics but I like to keep it simple. I have my Tarot cards, candles, soft music and three deep breaths– and that’s about it!

As soon as order arrives, I rush to my sacred room, play soft music and light a candle to soften my mood and allow myself to focus. I light candles every time I seek help from my angels and spirit guides and ask them to provide me wisdom I need for serving my clients. I have already written prayer on a piece of paper and placed it near the candle. As the candle burns and while I am shuffling my cards, I speak my prayers out loud to call upon my guardian angels to help me during my reading.

While shuffling I say the following prayer:

“Hey Archangel Uriel, help me, help me, and help me. I call you in this tarot reading for (client’s name) who seeks clarity in her life. I ask that mine & my (client’s name) spirit guides to reunite together in providing the clearest, and most accurate divination I can. Please help me in understanding and interpreting the messages sent through this tarot reading to provide the help and clarity [client’s name] seeks. My (client’s name) would like to know (client’s question or concern) ………. Amen.”

This technique has helped me to focus more, take charge of my reading and most importantly in providing better tarot readings to my clients.

In addition to this, if you like to use crystals in your reading, you can place one crystal in each direction starting from north, south, east and west —this will create a circle of protection.

Or if you prefer to use incense during your readings, I would recommend you to use sandalwood incense because it is good for psychic or healing powers. Light your incense and draw a circle of smoke in a clockwise direction over the tarot cards in order to empower them.

Rituals after completing the reading

After completing the reading, I make sure to close the connection or channelling with my angels and spirit guides with a closing prayer. Extinguish the candle, and give yourself enough time to adjust back into normal space because you are baring a part of your soul with an intuitive who is guiding you through a process. So, make sure that you are gentle with this process by taking three deep breaths. However, for some people this process could be confusing and draining and for some it could be a peaceful experience because each person reacts differently to this process.

If you keep your tarot deck wrapped in a silk cloth, bag or box, place them back in it. Treat them with respect, leaving and forgetting about them just after your tarot reading is not a good idea. Tap them three times to clear previous reading impressions. I prefer to do it twice, before and after the reading.

Don’t forget to uncast the circle by removing the crystals one by one in the same way you placed them when starting the reading. If you use incense then draw a circle of smoke in anti-clockwise direction over the tarot cards to clear any negativity from them.

After reading, I say the following prayer:

“Hey Archangel Uriel, thank you, thank you and thank you. Thank you for stepping forward and helping me to experience your Divine light and presence during this reading. Please accept our thanks for your help and assistance in this reading………. Amen.”

In conclusion

Tarot is a great tool and shouldn’t be scary. They are ‘YOUR’ tool which means there are no set rules anywhere. They easily tune themselves the way you want to understand them. But I believe that following specific rituals (that suits or works best for you) and few words like those above can serve to create an atmosphere of respect for the reading, which is important. No matter how one looks at it, the meditations, prayers and affirmations that one says before and at the end of the reading helps you create a frame of mind more suited to the reading.

There will be instances where it is not always possible to follow the full ritual may be for like a telephone psychic who are doing speed readings or short readings. In these circumstances, it is perfectly fine if you jump straight channelling with your spirit guides by three deep breathes.
